10 years later..

If you told me 10 years ago I’d still be tinkering with random ideas and calling it a career, I probably would’ve laughed… and then gone back to taking something apart.
Now that I’m nearing the end of college, I keep getting asked: “When did you know you wanted to go into UX?”
I wish I had a deep, cinematic answer. I don’t.
It was more like: my dog would not stop bothering me while I was trying to do homework… so I rigged a rotating laser pointer setup (questionable engineering, highly motivated user testing).
Problem → solution → slightly chaotic prototype.
In hindsight… very on brand.
That’s kind of been the pattern ever since. See a problem, mess with it until it works (or at least works better), repeat.
So no, there wasn’t a single “UX moment.”
Just a long trail of small fixes, weird builds, and “this could be better.”
To my younger self:
You weren’t procrastinating. You were… prototyping.
